A new ''cage-like'' monoterpene glucoside, named paeonidanin, has been
isolated from Paeonia peregrina roots and its structure established o
n the basis of spectral evidence. In addition, five known substances,
paeoniflorigenone, benzoylpaeoniflorin, benzoic, p-hydroxybenzoic and
