Two new Diels-Alder type adducts, named palodesagretins I and II, were
isolated from a Peruvian folk medicine ''palo de sangre'' (Brosimum r
ubescens). The structure of these new isolates indicated them to be ad
ducts consisting of chalcone derivatives and a prenylcoumarin produced
a Diels-Alder-type addition reaction, with a five-membered ring-closu
re. Structural elucidation is based mainly on 2D-NMR analyses. (C) 199
