Abstract
Vibrational relaxation of HCl(nu = 1) in HCl/CO2 and HCl/CO2/Ar gaseou s mixtures has been measured at room temperature (296K) by the laser-i nduced fluorescence (LIF) technique. The observed rate constants are s maller than described in the literature. All measured fluorescence cur ves are successfully recalculated with the rate constants evaluated in this work. Argon as a buffer gas raises the fluorescence intensity, w ithout an influence on the rate constants. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B .V. All rights reserved.
