Abstract
A locally optimized control theory is developed. This theory is applie d to pump-dump laser-driven chemical reactions via an electronically e xcited state. The results show that the theory can design the pulse sh apes for chemical reactions with high quantum yields in strong laser i ntensity regimes in which perturbative treatments break down.
