N. Asao et al., SIMULTANEOUS COORDINATION AND DOUBLE ACTIVATION PHENOMENA OF CARBONYLAND EPOXY OXYGENS BY BIS-TITANIUM REAGENT AS A BIDENTATE LEWIS-ACID CATALYST, Tetrahedron letters, 39(22), 1998, pp. 3729-3732
The new bidentate Ti catalyst, (anthraquinone-1,8-dioxy)bis(triisoprop
oxy- titanium) (1) can be successfully designed and utilized for the s
imultaneous coordination to carbonyl substrates. The high double-activ
ation ability of the bidentate Ti catalyst I toward carbonyls is empha
sized using several synthetic examples in comparison with the correspo
nding monodentate Ti catalyst. The intermediary coordination complex f
ormation of bidentate 1 with DMF or epoxycyclohexane as a carbonyl or
epoxy substrate is characterized by C-13 NMR spectroscopy. (C) 1998 El
