Ml. Thomsen et Dw. Hoeppner, THE EFFECT OF DWELL LOADING ON THE STRAIN ACCUMULATION BEHAVIOR OF TITANIUM-ALLOYS, International journal of fatigue, 20(4), 1998, pp. 309-317
The fatigue characteristics of titanium alloy IMI 834 were studied und
er both cyclic and dwell loading conditions. Strain data were taken fr
om two different heat treatments of IMI 834 titanium alloy during fati
gue cycling with 10 Hz haversine, 0.065, and 0.033 Hz trapezoidal load
ing wave forms. The resulting cyclic strain accumulation rates were ca
lculated and compared to determine if a trend could be identified rela
ted to the significant reduction in life observed as a result of the d
well time at maximum load. It was found that, indeed, when high cyclic
strain accumulation rates were observed, there was a significant redu
ction in fatigue life. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
