A panel of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) was raised against tea polyphe
nols conjugated to bovine serum albumin. A cross-reactivity study carr
ied out against various purified polyphenols showed that most of the a
ntibodies generated have the ability to recognize epigallocatechin > e
picatechin > thearubigin = theaflavin > epicatechin-3-gallate = epigal
locatechin-3-gallate > rutin. One of the selected MAbs, 5756.3, was us
ed in an immunoassay to measure polyphenols in tea, urine and blood sa
mples.
