Abstract
This paper presents an algorithm designed for detecting the center of an object with central symmetry in an image. It is well known that the spectral phase of such an object is a plane whose orientation depends on the object position in the image. Our algorithm applies weighting of the moduli to determine the slope and the orientation of this wrapp ed phase plane in the image spectrum. A comparison is made with other conventional methods and shows the advantages of this algorithm: subpi xel resolution, computing speed, ease of implementation. (C) 1998 Patt ern Recognition Society.
