Abstract
Soil temperature records in the MacMurdo Sound region of Antarctica su pported the subdivision of the territory into five climatic zones: the coastal fringe, the inland valley floors, the valley sides, and the p lateau fringe. Surface albedo proved to be the major factor influencin g the climatic regime of Antarctic soils.
