By using Brouwer degree theory and a continuation theorem based on Maw
hin's coincidence degree, an abstract existence theorem at resonance f
or operator equations is developed. As applications of this result, so
me sufficient conditions are given for the existence of periodic solut
ions of semilinear equations at resonance where the kernel of the line
ar part has dimension N(N greater than or equal to 2). The results due
to Nagle and Sinkala are generalized, improved, and unified. (C) 1998
