Abstract
Protobatioladinium? elongatum sp. nov, is a distinctive, large, longit udinally elongate Upper Bathonian (Middle Jurassic) dinoflagellate cys t recorded from western Russia. This species is questionably attribute d to Protobatioladinium because the archaeopyle type does not precisel y conform to that of the genotype. This form is present, often abundan tly, throughout the Upper Bathonian sediments of the central and north ern Russian Platform and appears to be a reliable marker species.
