A non-iterative time-domain method far solving the inverse scattering
problem for the temporally dispersive, linear, homogeneous, and bi-iso
tropic slab at normal incidence is presented. The inverse scattering p
roblem is to determine (finite time traces of) the susceptibility kern
els of the medium given (finite time traces of) the reflection and tra
nsmission kernels, which are obtained by deconvolution of the scattere
d fields. Two numerical examples illustrate the method for this kind o
f noisy data. A series representation of the solution of the direct pr
