Abstract
The characteristics of scientific revolutions and the question of whic h events in the history of science deserve the name of revolutionary a re controversial themes in the philosophy of science. In this article Thomas Kuhn's characterization of scientific revolutions based on his theory of concepts is discussed, and the discovery of nuclear fission will serve to illustrate Kuhn's points.
