Abstract
The author reviews new understanding of the etiology of panic disorder , particularly as it involves factors across the life span and across multiple Presentations. In light of this perspective, he discusses tre atment implications. He also emphasizes the necessity of increased eff orts at case finding, and concludes by suggesting directions for futur e clinical and research strategies.
