Mg. Nifontova, CONCENTRATIONS OF LONG-LIVED ARTIFICIAL RADIONUCLIDES IN THE MOSS-LICHEN COVER OF TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS IN THE URAL-SIBERIAN REGION, Russian journal of ecology, 29(3), 1998, pp. 167-171
Data are presented concerning Sr-90 and Cs-137 concentrations in taxon
omically different lichens and mosses, and concentrations of radionucl
ides in the moss-lichen cover of terrestrial communities studied in th
e Ural-Siberian Region. Radioactive contamination of lichens and mosse
s is determined by long-lived radionuclides arriving with global fallo
ut from the atmosphere. The dynamics of Sr-90 and Cs-137 concentration
s in moss-lichen communities is shown. The data obtained can be used f
or the general assessment of the radiological situation in the Ural-Si
berian Region and for long-term radiation monitoring in the northern t
erritories.
