Abstract
Dehydrogenative coupling takes place to give vicinal diimine compounds in the reaction of aromatic aldimines with ytterbium metal followed b y treatment with aromatic aldehydes such as 1-naphthaldehyde (1-NpCHO) as a hydrogen acceptor.
