Abstract
Metallation of P{CH(SiMe3)(2)}(C6H4CH2NMe2-2)(2) with (BuLi)-Li-n yiel ds a novel lithium phosphinomethanide in which the ligand exhibits an unprecedented tridentate PN2 coordination mode and in which there are no short contacts between lithium and the planar carbanion centre.
