Abstract
A new dinuclear manganese(II) complex bridged by bridging ligand butan e 1,4-dicarboxylic acid, [Mn-2(BIPY)(4)(BTD)(H2O)(2)].(ClO4)(2) . 2H(2 )O has been prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallo graphy. The crystal structure comprises a dinuclear cation, perchlorat e anions and lattice water molecules. Each Mn-II dimer unit is linked to its neighbours by the two noncoordinating carboxylate oxygens of BT D2-ligand, the bound water and two bridging water molecules through do uble hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite chain running parallel to the crystallographic b-axis. The electrochemical properties of the comple x was studied in CH3CN by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The temperature-dep endent magnetic susceptibility data (75-300 K) were fitted based on H = -2Js(1)s(2), yielding the intramolecular coupling constant J value o f -0.137 cm(-1).
