Abstract
We present results for electronic momentum distribution n(k) of deform ed sodium clusters in the framework of the Kohn-Sham formalism. We dis cuss properties of both spheroidal clusters and fission configurations . For spheroidal clusters we have analyzed properties of total and sin gle-particle electronic momentum distribution. The results show that-d eformation has more of an effect on the latter, and that the total qua drupole moment in k space can be used to search the minimum-energy con figuration. With regard to fission configurations, we present the beha vior of total quadrupole moment for different fission pathways. [S0163 -1829(98)07619-X].
