Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), observed among immuno
compromised AIDS patients, has not been reported during chemotherapy f
or acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), We report a case of PCNSL occu
rring in a child receiving intensive multiagent chemotherapy for B-cel
l ALL. In situ hybridization studies demonstrated Epstein-Barr virus g
enome in both tumours, suggesting a possible link between the two dise
ases. The clinical response of the PCNSL to conservative therapy highl
ights the importance of accurately diagnosing such EBV-related disorde
rs, especially in patients where immune compromise can be reversed.
