Abstract
A sir-layer-ed spherical lens with different sphere radii was theoreti cally constructed and practically developed for designing the Luneburg lens. The optimum dielectric variation function is obtained, from whi ch the simpler new expression epsilon(j) = (epsilon(j-1)epsilon(j+1))( 1/2) is also derived. The electric field in space is shown for the cas es of N = 6, 30. Experimental verification is also made.
