DETERMINATION OF VISCOSITIES AND DENSITIE S FOR BINARY-MIXTURES OF P-DIOXANE WITH METHANOL, ETHANOL, N-PROPANOL AND N-BUTANOL

Densities and viscosities have been determined for binary solvent mixt ures of p-dioxane + methanol, p-dioxane + ethanol, p-dioxane + n-propa nol and p-dioxane + n-butanol at 298. 15 K. The excess molar volumes, excess viscosities and excess Gibbs energies of activation of flow hav e been calculated from experimental data and are presented as function s of composition. Intermolecular interactions in the mixtures are disc ussed on the basis of the results, and the effect of the length of the alkyl chain in the alcohol system is evaluated. The values of mixture viscosity have been calculated for different compositions by the appl ication of different equations.
