The reaction of the bis(silylene)ruthenium complex Cp(Ph3P)Ru{SiMe2...
O(Me)...SiMe2} (1) with MeOH afforded trans-Cp(Ph3P)RuH(SiMe2OMe)(2) (
2). Complex 2 reacted further slowly with an excess of MeOH to give tr
ans-Cp(Ph3P)-Ru(H)(2)(SiMe2OMe) (3) and Me2Si-(OMe)(2). In contrast, t
he reaction of 1 with H2O yielded first the metallacycle Cp(Ph3P)-(RuH
SiMe2OSiMe2) (4), which then was converted to the tetrasiloxane comple
x [Cp(Ph3P)Ru(H)(2)SiMe2OSiMe2](2)O (5) by the action of an excess of
H2O.
