Abstract
The protonation constants of some amino acids commonly found in natura l waters, namely valine, (CH3)(2)CHCH2CH(NH2)COOH; serine, OHCH2CH(NH2 )COOH; and beta-alanine, NH2CH2CH2COOH, have been studied at different ionic strength of artificial seawater and at 25 degrees C by potentio metry with a commercial glass electrode. The results have been interpr eted by the Fitter interaction model.
