Abstract
alpha, gamma-Unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones (1) react with primar y enamines (2) such as beta-aminocrotononitrile and beta-aminocrotonat es in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride / pyridine adsorbed on si lica gel and manganese dioxide, providing good to high yields of 6-tri fluoromethylpyridines (5).
