Y. Ma et al., FREQUENCY AND TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF COMPLEX STRONTIUM-TITANATE ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL FLUIDS UNDER AN ALTERNATING ELECTRIC-FIELD, Journal of applied physics, 83(10), 1998, pp. 5522-5524
The electrorheological (ER) behavior of suspensions of water-free comp
lex strontium titanate particles, synthesized by means of a modified s
ol-gel technique, in silicone oil have been investigated under an ac e
lectric field. The frequency and temperature dependence of the shear s
tress show that the shear stress decreases monotonically with frequenc
y and reaches a maximum value when the temperature is around 70 degree
s C. The ER behavior has been explained on the basis of dielectric mea
surements. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
