A. Espina et al., INTERCALATION OF ALPHA,OMEGA-ALKYLDIAMINES INTO LAYERED A-TITANIUM PHOSPHATE FROM AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS, Materials research bulletin, 33(5), 1998, pp. 763-771
This paper reports a study on the mechanism of intercalation of alpha,
omega-alkyldiamines NH2(CH2)(n)NH2 (n = 2-9), into layered alpha-titan
ium phosphate, alpha-Ti(HPO4)(2) . H2O. The intercalates synthesis was
performed by titrating the host with aqueous solutions of alkyldiamin
e at 25%C. Crystalline phases showing a general formula alpha-Ti(HPO4)
(2) . xNH(2)(CH2)(n)NH2 . H2O (x less than or equal to 1) have been ob
tained. In every case, a monolayered arrangement of alpha,omega-alkyld
iamine molecules into the host layers is formed. The average inclinati
on angle of the alkyldiamine molecules to the phosphate layer and the
intercalates packing density have been determined. (C) 1998 Elsevier S
