Abstract
The reaction between K-2[C8H4(1,4-SiPr3i)(2)] and Mo-2(OAc)(4) yields Mo-2[C8H4(1,4-SiPr3i)(2)](2), the first example ofa bimetallic bis-pen talene sandwich complex to be structurally characterized by X-ray diff raction. Structural data show that the carbon frameworks of the two pe ntalene ligands are eclipsed and effectively planar with fold angles o f ca. 2 degrees and 3 degrees while the SiPr3i groups are staggered th e Mo-Mo distance is 2.340(1) Angstrom.
