medical writing, CMAJ sponsors the Amy Chouinard Memorial Essay Prize
. The $750 award is in memory of Amy Chouinard, a longtime and valued
contributor to CMAJ and the Canadian journal of Surgery. Students from
any recognized journalism program at a Canadian college or university
are eligible to enter, and the deadline for 1998 entries is June 1. T
he 1997 winner, Megan Easton, presents a well-written and thorough acc
ount of the issues surrounding infertility treatment. Interest in the
topic came naturally enough - her father, Dr. William Easton, is a uro
gynecologist in private practice in Scarborough, Ont.
