Abstract
The title compound, en)(2)(NCS)(2)](2)[Delta,Lambda-Ni(en)(3)][PF6](2)
(1) (en = ethylenediamine) has been synthesised via a molecular rearr
angement reaction of trans-Ni(en)(2)(NCS)(2). 1 consists of [Ni(en)(2)
(NCS)(2)](2) (1a), [Ni(en)(3)](2+) (1b) and [PF6](-) (1c) molecular un
its in a 2:1:2 ratio, such that both 1a and 1b crystallise in an order
ed racemic sequence of A and A chiral units. Extensive intermolecular
hydrogen bonding:is observed between amine protons of the en chelate r
ings and the fluorine atoms of the [PF6](-) counteranions, as well as
between the amine protons and sulfur atoms of the NCS ligands. The en
chelates display ring conformations of Lambda lambda lambda for 1a and
