Abstract
The title compound, en)(2)(NCS)(2)](2)[Delta,Lambda-Ni(en)(3)][PF6](2) (1) (en = ethylenediamine) has been synthesised via a molecular rearr angement reaction of trans-Ni(en)(2)(NCS)(2). 1 consists of [Ni(en)(2) (NCS)(2)](2) (1a), [Ni(en)(3)](2+) (1b) and [PF6](-) (1c) molecular un its in a 2:1:2 ratio, such that both 1a and 1b crystallise in an order ed racemic sequence of A and A chiral units. Extensive intermolecular hydrogen bonding:is observed between amine protons of the en chelate r ings and the fluorine atoms of the [PF6](-) counteranions, as well as between the amine protons and sulfur atoms of the NCS ligands. The en chelates display ring conformations of Lambda lambda lambda for 1a and Lambda delta delta delta for 1b. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Scien ce Ltd. All rights reserved.
