Three populations of X. dentatum originating from a mountainous region
of Yugoslavia are described. The morphological and biometrical charac
teristics are studied and compared with those of other previously desc
ribed populations of X. dentatum for a reappraisal of the variability
and limits of this species. Spines have been observed for the first ti
me in the uterus of specimens of the type population of X. turcicum. (
