S. Yamaji, DEVELOPMENT OF P-VERSION ADAPTIVE BOUNDARY-ELEMENT ANALYSIS SYSTEM, JSME international journal. Series A, Solid mechanics and material engineering, 41(2), 1998, pp. 192-198
A boundary element analysis system using p-version, which is an adapti
ve mesh refinement scheme, was developed. Generally, elements in the p
-version finite element method (FEM) are formulated using the interpol
ate function based on the hierarchical polynomial, and the amplitude o
f high-order function is chosen as the unknown value. In this study, a
high-order boundary element that possesses unknown displacements of t
he collocation point was developed. This element makes it possible to
apply the p-version even to contact problems that there are various co
ntact conditions within the element. An effective and efficient error
evaluation method suited to the P-version based on the stress mode amp
litude, in which the stress distribution is converted into the stress
mode amplitude using the hierarchical interpolate function, is propose
d. The system was applied to both basic and practical examples, and it
s application to actual equipment demonstrated its usefulness.
