Abstract
Laparoscopic pyeloplasty is an alternative minimally invasive techniqu e for repairing the obstructed ureteropelvic junction. As with open py eloplasty, this technique addresses all potential benign causes of ure teropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction. Having performed laparoscopic p yeloplasty on 57 patients at our institution over the past 4 years, ou r experience suggests that laparoscopic pyeloplasty is an effective te chnique with durable longterm clinical and radiographic results. In co ntrast to endoscopic incisional techniques, laparoscopic pyeloplasty a ppears to offer a higher success rate with minimal risk of perioperati ve hemorrhage.
