Abstract
The influence of pulsed laser treatment on the structural state and st rength of N30 alloy and the martensitic transformation in its surface layer is investigated. Laser treatment in fusion conditions leads to c onsiderable increase in the yield point, comparable with the hardening of this alloy on account of phase cold hardening in gamma-alpha-gamma transformations. Stabilization of the austenite with respect to direc t martensitic transformation on subsequent cooling in liquid nitrogen is observed.
