The isothermal cross section of the Al-Zn-Ba system at 623 K is constr
ucted from the results of differential thermal, X-ray phase, and micro
structural analysis. Two ternary compounds of composition BaAl2Zn2 and
BaAlZn are observed in the system; they are in equilibrium with each
other and with the intermetallides of the lateral systems. The aluminu
m solid solution is in equilibrium with BaAl4. Two-phase equilibria ar
e established: BaAl4-Zn, Zn-BaAl2Zn2, BaAl4-BaAl2Zn2, BaAl2Zn2-BaAlZn,
BaAlZn-Zn, BaAlZn-BaZn13. Singular triangularization is performed, an
d the liquidus surface of the ternary systems Al-Zn-Ba is constructed,
As a result of triangulation, the system is divided into secondary sy
stems: Al-Zn-BaAl4, BaAl4-BaAl2Zn2-Zn, Zn-BaAl2Zn2-BaAlZn, BaAlZn-Zn-B
aZn13. The coordinates of the nonvariant transformations are determine
d.
