Influence of refraction on the pulse width versus frequency curve is c
onsidered. Radio waves are assumed to be emitted from a range of altit
udes at frequencies of the order of local Lorentz-shifted proper plasm
a frequencies. It is shown that refraction may account for the so call
ed ''absorption feature'' on the observed pulse width versus frequency
curve and also for the observed frequency dependence of separation be
tween components of double profiles.
