Abstract
Self-guiding of an optical beam at energies close to and below the ban dgap has been demonstrated in an active semiconductor optical amplifie r under quasi CW conditions with a laser intensity of similar to 1.1MW /cm(2). A second beam at a 60nm longer wavelength was guided and steer ed by the self-guided beam.
