The development of a new technology for the complex processing of tita
nomagnetites (complex ores) in a closed cycle is considered, This tech
nology yields: a vanadium-alloyed steel product for high-quality metal
lurgy; vanadium pentoxide for the production of its alloys; artificial
rutile for the production of titanium tetrachloride; and artificial a
natase, a qualitatively new, rich, raw material for the production of
pigmentary titanium dioxide by the sulfuric-acid method. This technolo
gy is more effective than the traditional extraction of vanadium and p
roduction of artificial rutile from separate types of iron-titanium ra
w materials, including the production of low-and moderate-alloy steel
using vanadium-containing additives.
