Abstract
Neutral transition metal hydrides tend to act as proton accepters towa rds conventional H-bond proton donors. The resulting species can be pr ecursors of dihydrogen complexes. The BH bonds of boranes are also eff ective H-bond accepters. Cationic metal hydrides, in contrast, can act as proton donors toward conventional H-bond accepters, such as OPPh3.
