DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL BROADCASTING IN JAPAN

Almost all broadcasting systems and their equipment would be digitaliz ed in the near Future. In Japan, investigation of digital broadcasting has been going on for a long time, aiming at a realization of improve ment of picture quality, new services, system flexibility, etc. Japane se digital broadcasting systems under development have a lot of techni cal merits, for example, a high transmission capacity and a hierarchic al transmission scheme for satellite, and mobile reception for terrest rial digital broadcasting systems, compared to conventional digital sy stems.
