A. Kruse et E. Schmitt, PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING IN THE DEPENDENT OLD - A RESOURCE PERSPECTIVE, Zeitschrift fur klinische Psychologie, 27(2), 1998, pp. 118-124
Psychological well-being in spite of dependency is examined from a res
ource perspective, The significance of perceived stress and of persona
l and environmental resources as predictors of depressivity, lonely di
ssatisfaction and subjective aging process was analyzed by means of mu
ltiple regression analysis. The predictive power of stress was no long
er significant when personal and environmental resources were entered
in multiple regression analysis. Focusing on personal resources, a cop
ing pattern accentuating activity, personal ability and control was th
e best predictor for psychological well-being. Concerning environmenta
l resources, perceived quality of medical treatment and social service
s had most predictive power.
