N. Gmira et al., ECOLOGICAL GROUPING OF SOLANUM-ELAEAGNIFOLIUM - A PRINCIPAL WEED IN THE IRRIGATED TADLA PLAIN (CENTRAL MOROCCO), Weed Research, 38(2), 1998, pp. 87-94
In order to study the ecological relationships between Solanum elaeagn
ifolium Cav. and the main biotic and abiotic factors in the irrigated
arid Tadla plain (central Morocco), the theory of mutual information a
nd corrected frequency profiles has been adopted. The main ecological
factors taken into account in this study were the climate, soil, textu
re, salinity, irrigation, type of land use and the intensity of farmin
g. The growth and extension of S. elaeagnifolium was found to be contr
olled by the arid and semi-arid Mediterranean climate, by soil type an
d by technical and agronomic factors.
