Fl. Lim et al., USE OF LOG POLAR SPACE FOR FOVEATION AND FEATURE RECOGNITION, IEE proceedings. Vision, image and signal processing, 144(6), 1997, pp. 323-331
The finding and maintaining of high accuracy foveation points for seve
ral types of recognised feature in log polar space such as a line, cir
cular or elliptical are is considered. Log polar space is preferred ov
er cartesian space as it provides a high resolution and a wide viewing
angle; feature invariance in the fovea simplifies foveation; it allow
s multi-resolution analysis; and rotation and scale are linear transla
tions in log polar space.
