Abstract
An analytical model to describe the Gordon-Haus jitter has been introd uced. We have analysed the effects of accumulated amplified spontaneou s emission and Gordon-Haus jitter on the bit error rate (BER) performa nce for various digital modulation formats (that is, ASK, FSK and DPSK ).
