The incidence of tuberculosis in HIV-infected patients has increased c
ontinuously over the past ten years. Extrapulmonary manifestations hav
e become more frequent in AIDS patients than in immunocompetent hosts.
Here we report about a patient with an unusual presentation of extrap
ulmonary tuberculosis. Our case report indicates that differential dia
gnosis of brain lesions in HIV-infected patients should include tuberc
ulosis. In uncertain cases, it is indispensable to obtain specimens by
craniotomy or stereotactic biopsy.
