Abstract
Peracetic acid was used in mill-scale TCFz bleaching to improve the st rength properties of softwood kraft pulp. Treating pulp with peracetic acid after ozone treatment without intermediate washing, improved tea r strength by 6% at tensile index 70 as well as brightness by 2.1 degr ees ISO. The build-up of dissolved material in the water circulation s ystem did not reduce the effectiveness of peracetic acid.
