Thermal-stimulated polarization and depolarization experiments with an
d without blocking electrodes are performed on a particular tyrosine-d
erived polyarylate: poly( DTH succinate). The high temperature region
comprising the combined effects of the glass transition relaxation pea
k and the conduction through the sample is modeled. Conduction through
the sample is described by a simple temperature relaxation model that
, in the presence of blocking electrodes, gives rise to a charge redis
tribution peak. The analytical expression for this peak is found and,
together with a convenient description for the glass transition relaxa
tion peak the experimental data, is closely reproduced. An estimate of
the dielectric constant can be obtained with the model proposed. For
the sample used, the value is equal to 2.4. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons
