Rj. Rosenberg et Rp. Spencer, ABDOMINAL RED-BLOOD-CELL IMAGING IN AN INFANT ON TOTAL PARENTERAL-NUTRITION BECAUSE OF COLON AGANGLIOSIS, Clinical nuclear medicine, 23(6), 1998, pp. 383-383
An infant boy with colonic agangliosis had bowel stomas created and ha
d been kept alive by total parenteral nutrition. An episode of gastroi
ntestinal bleeding occurred at age 7 months and a labeled red blood ce
ll imaging study was performed. An area of blood loss was identified.
Also noted was splenomegaly, but without clear delineation of the hepa
tic blood pool. The detrimental effect of total parenteral nutrition o
n liver function was noted.
