Abstract
A new method for measuring the magneto-impedance at high frequency is proposed here for rapidly solidified soft magnetic materials. The meth od is based on the S-parameter measurement technique by means of micro wave network analysers. The material samples are inserted in a specifi c measurement cell consisting of a section of magnetic sample in the f orm of wire or ribbon suspended on a ground plane. The analysis of the measured scattering parameters of the cell allows one to obtain infor mation on the magnetic permeability behaviour of the samples at high f requency. Some experimental results are reported in order to show the effectiveness of the technique. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rig hts reserved.
