Abstract
The title reaction is first order each in oxidant and catalyst and ret arded by Mn-II. The order in Se-IV is unity at lower concentrations an d fractional at higher concentrations. Increase in [H+] retards the ra te of the reaction but variation in ionic strength has negligible effe ct, A suitable mechanism involving Ru-VII as active oxidising species is proposed.
